Hello Wendy! BTW: I apologise for the LENGTH of this... :). I'm really new to podcasts in general and just discovered yours on my ROKU. What you said in this ep. REALLY resonated with me! RE: being concerned with doing meditation "RIGHT". I live in a small town in North-Central Nebraska so FACE-TO-FACE with A BUDDHIST (Much LESS a GURU of any kind) has never happened for me... But I have been reading mythology/religion since I learned to read and was always very drawn to Buddhism. And as I grew OLDER (I'm 49) it was simply the one religion that made the most "SENSE" to me. When I was in my early 30's I began having seizures... The doctors are still not 100% sure WHY but the general consensus is it goes back to me having meningitis when I was 2... all we know is I am on MEDS now and since I was working 2 jobs and quit ONE to cut down on any kind of STRESS etc... I was unable to afford the MEDS... (Since I was WORKING I didn't qualify for help apparently :( ) After a LOT of problems a sister of mine who worked in a hospital swam through the MILES of red tape and got me declared disabled... but I now have to have a "PAYEE" pay my bills for me... But I am ALIVE and haven't had a seizure in about 14 years... but there were STILL pretty severe HEADACHES (SINUSES etc)... using YOUTUBE and several guided meditation CDs I bought I found that the affect was UNREAL! I have learned to make my own MALAS (I bought one online but the seeds it's made from are MUCH too small for my big fingers. (I am 6'4 and weigh 350+ lbs and have a GOATEE I tell people I have the basic BIKER LOOK but anyone who knows me and how I deal with ANIMALS and CHILDREN can tell you I'm the PROOF that you shouldn't judge a book by it's COVER! ) So I made a mala using 10mm beads I ordered online... At the moment I am listening to the Tibetan Book of the Dead (I found it as an AUDIOBOOK on YOUTUBE narrated by Richard Gere and that led me to finding the one I had BOUGHT to follow along was the WRONG translation ;) so I found the CORRECT ONE and bought IT) Anyway... I just wanted to say THANK YOU and let you know I am in the process of listening to ALL the podcasts available.
